BEIJING Houston Rockets star Yao Ming has joined a campaign to combat the stigma associated with H-I-V and AIDS in his native China.Details were announced today by the United Nations.
Yao will be featured in posters with people from AIDS-affected communities in the "We Are Friends" campaign.
The posters carry the message: "H-I-V/AIDS will not affect our friendship."
The 7-foot 6-inch N-B-A player is seen standing with a group of children and signing autographs.
The campaign involves distribution of more than 200-thousand posters throughout China, a mini-documentary, development of a resource kit and other projects.
The writing on the posters will appear in Chinese, as well as some ethnic minority languages ( Tibetan, Uighur, and Jingbo).
